The Click Five Live In Concert

Setelah sempat tampil sebagai band pembuka pada konser The Black Eyed Peas pada 20 Oktober, 2007 lalu. Kini giliran The Click Five akan menggelar konser tunggal mereka dan di buka oleh band pendatang baru ALEXA pada tanggal 4 Juni 2008. Konser Click Five di Jakarta merupakan bagian dari rangkaian tur konser mereka yang bertajuk Modern Minds and Great Times 2008. Selain di Jakarta mereka akan tampil di Australia, Jepang, Korea dan Hong Kong.

Band asal Boston, Amerika Serikat yang terdiri dari Kyle Patrick (vocal, rhythm guitar), Joe Guese (lead guitar), Ethan Metzer (bass), Ben Romans (keyboard), dan Joey Zehr (drum), telah merilis dua album Greetings From Imrie House(2005), dan Modern Minds And Pastimes (2007), dalam menyambut tur kali ini, The Click Five juga merilis album Modern Minds and Pastimes Tour Edition, dengan tambahan tiga lagu baru sebagai bonus tracks yakni So It Goes, American Royalty, Summertime, dan tiga lagu pilihan dari album Modern Minds and Pastimes dalam versi akustik.

Konser ini akan menjadi hiburan yang sangat memukau di awal Juni ini, mengigat aksi panggung mereka yang sangat menghibur saat menjadi band pembuka pada konser The Black Eyed Peas .

MOBIL TERBANG

Beberapa prototipe mobil terbang sudah dibuat. Misalnya, X-Hawk, Transition Personal Air Vehicle, Skyrider X2R, dan Pal-V. Ada yang dibuat mirip helikopter atau pesawat. Ada tetap yang berbentuk mobil dengan sayap bisa dilipat otomatis. Jadi kalau mobilnya tidak terbang, sayapnya bisa 'sembunyi'. Bahan bakarnya seperti bensin mobil biasa. Diisinya pun di pom bensin. Kalau mau terbang, ke bandar udara. Lalu surat izin mengemudinya digunakan untuk di darat dan di udara. Sebelum boleh terbang, mereka harus latihan dulu. Barulah keluar SIM-nya.




KERETA API BERSAYAP
Aero-Train, adalah salah satunya. Ketika sayap bergerak dan bersentuhan dengan tanah, badan kereta terangkat. Ini disebut ground effect. Tenaganya listrik dari panel surya dan kincir angin. Kereta ini sudah di uji coba di Jepang. Direncanakan akan dipakai tahun 2020.

Kereta masa depan berusaha menjaga alam. Contohnya, Kiha E200, kereta hybrid pertama. Tenaganya dari motor listrik dan baterai lithium. Kalau berjalan pelan, kereta digerakkan oleh mesin diesel. Lalu ada juga lokomotif Evolution. Lokomotif ini mengurangi 60% pembakaran nitrogen oksida. Itu sama dengan mengurangi 48 juta mobil dari jalan setiap tahunnya.




MOTOR BERODA SATU
Embrio si motor beroda satu yang memakai bahan bakar hidrogen, salah satunya. Motor ini dilengkapi dengan alat pengendali keseimbangan yang disebut giroskop. Roda kecil di depannya berfungsi menjaga kestabilan ketika berhanti atau berjalan dengan kecepatan rendah.

Dodge Tomahawk merupakan salah satu motor berkecepatan tinggi. Motor ini memakai mesin mobil sport, Viper V-10. Motor ini beroda empat. Kalau motor ramah lingkungan ada Vectrix si skuter dan RoboScooter yang bertenaga listrik.

PESAWAT SUPER CEPAT

Saat menembus lapisan atmosfer, pesawat ruang angkasa memakai kecepatan hipersonik. Begitu juga roket. Ternyata para ahli berencana membuat pesawat hipersonik berpenumpang.


Masih 25 tahun lagi untuk mewujudkan rencana itu. Namun diperkirakan bahan bakarnya hidrogen cair. Lalu, diperkirakan dapat membawa 300 penumpang. Panjangnya sekitar 143 meter, 2 kali lebih besar daripada Airbus A380. Dan dua kali lebih cepat dari pada pesawat Concorde. Bisa jadi penerbangan dari Inggris ke Australia kurang dari 5 jam.

KAPAL LAUT LAYANG-LAYANG

Kapal laut ikutan memakai tenaga alternatif. Buktinya, kapal kargo MS Beluga SkySails berlayar dengan tenaga angin. Kapal ditarik layang-layang besar di ketinggian 300-500 meter dengan teknologi canggih. Di ketinggian itu, anginnya lebih stabil. SkySail menghemat 20% pemakaian bahan bakar.

Lalu kapal Elding memakai bahan bakar hidrogen. Suara kapal menjadi tidak berisik. Ada juga kapal Zemship atau Zero Emission Ship. Kapal berpenumpang ini juga berbahan bakar hidrogen. Kapal hidrogen memang masih diteliti. Soalnya kalau berlayar jauh, bawa berapa tangki hidrogen?...




KENDARAAN UMUM PRIBADI
Mungkin terdengar aneh, kendaraan umum pibadi? Ya, dalam satu kendaraan Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) hanya diisi 2 - 4 orang. Bentuknya kecil sehingga cepat dan hemat energi. Kendaraan umum ini berjalan di jalur khusus seperti rel. Bergerak otomatis hanya dengan sistem komputer. Dan tanpa supir...

Nama kendaraan ini tergantung dari perusahaan yang memproduksinya. Misalnya, ULTra yang diuji coba di Bandar Udara Heathrow, London tahun depan.

FLY CAR

Penyakit kaki gajah

Penyakit ini membuat kaki penderitanya membesar. Sampai-sampai bisa sampai sebesar kakinya gajah. Saat ini di beberapa daerah di Indonesia penyakit kaki gajah sedang mewabah. Penyakit ini diawali dengan demam yang berulang-ulang, setiap satu sampai dua bulan. Biasanya demam ini berlangsung selama tiga sampai lima hari. Setelah itu paha dan ketiak mulai membesar. Lalu terasa sakit dan panas. Jika dibiarkan, bagian kaki pada penderita akan semakin membesar. Kalau sudah semakin parah, penderitanya akan kesakitan dan kesulitan bergerak.

Penyebab Penyakit Kaki Gajah

Penyakit ini menular melalui nyamuk yang telah kemasukkan cacing filaria kecil. Sebenarnya cacing inilah yang menjadi sumber penyakit kaki gajah. Jenis nyamuk ini ada Brugia malayi, Wuchereria bancrofti, dan Brugia timori.

Nah, yang jadi masalah saat nyamuk itu menggigit kita. Saat itulah cacing filaria kecil berpindah ke tubuh kita. Namun sebaliknya nyamuk juga bisa kemasukkan cacing filaria kecil apabila nyamuk tersebut menggigit orang yang sudah terkena filaria.

Cacing itu berkembang biak dalam darah dan kelenjar limfe manusia. Akibatnya, kerja limfe jadi terhambat. Kelenjar itu tidak lagi dapat mengangkut cairan, protein, lemak, garam, mineral, dan zat-zat lain ke sistem pembuluh darah.

Menghindari Penyakit Kaki Gajah

Supaya tidak terkena penyakit kaki gajah, sebisa mungkin hindari gigitan nyamuk. Basmilah nyamuk dengan cara membersihkan sarang-sarang nyamuk. Selain itu perkuat daya tahan tubuh dengan makanan bergizi.

Baju Robot

Ironman dan Kamen Rider 555 memiliki teknologi pada baju robotnya, apakah baju itu ada dalam dunia nyata? Ternyata sejak awal tahun 2000, baju-baju itu sudah diciptakan oleh para ahli. Baju itu dibuat untuk berbagai tujuan, misalnya dipakai di bidang kedokteran, sosial, dan militer.

• Bidang kedokteran dan sosial, salah satu baju robot untuk bidang ini adalah HAL-5 (Hybrid Assistive Limb). Baju ini dipakai oleh orang-orang yang menjalani perawatan di rumah sakit. Dan juga untuk membantu orang-orang cacat. Baju robot ini juga di pakai oleh para pekerja pabrik dan tim penyelamat korban bencana alam. HAL-5 diciptakan di Jepang dan diluncurkan tahun 2006.

• Bidang Militer, baju robot untuk bidang ini adalah XOS Exoskeleton. Baju ini baru diluncurkan bulan Mei 2008 lalu. XOS membuat manusia menjadi kuat ketika memakainya. Misalnya beban 90 kg bisa diangkat berulang kali tanpa rasa lelah. XOS digerakkan dengan sensor. Setiap gerakan pemakainya akan diikuti oleh XOS.

Topi Pembaca Pikiran

Dalam film Harry Potter ada sebuah topi pembaca pikiran yang dapat menentukan seorang siswa untuk masuk ke asrama tertentu. Di dunia nyata ada juga topi pembaca pikiran. Bentuk topi ini seperti topi baseball. Topi ini diciptakan olehpara ilmuwan di Universitas Chiao-Tung di Taiwan.

Topi ini dilengkapi oleh perangkat elektronik. Fungsinya memberitahu hal-hal yang tidak disadari oleh pemakainya. Misalnya memberitahukan saat pemakainya mengatuk padahal sedang menyetir mobil. Apa yang sebenarnya dibaca oleh Topi ini?

Topi ini menangkap sinyal rakaman aliran listrik di otak atau EEG (elektroensefalogram). Setelah sinyal EEG di dapat , dikirim ke komputer. Lalu dipancarkan ke layar atau diubah menjadi alarm. Pengiriman sinyal dari otak ke komputer disebut brain-computer interface (BCI).



Jet Pack
Sejak Tahun 1920an, jet pack untuk terbang sudah muncul di film-film. Para ahli kemudian mulai menciptakan jet pack sekitar tahun 1958. Tahun 2008 ini, Jet Pack terbaru diciptakan oleh Pak Yves Rossy, seorang pilot dari Swiss.

Pak Yves menciptakan Jet Pack yang dipasang di punggung. Jet Pack itu berbentuk sayap segitiga. Lebarnya 25 meter. Beratnya 54 kg. Sayap itu bisa membuka dan menutup. Empat mesin jet menempel pada sayapnya. Sayap jet itu telah di uji coba oleh Pak Yves sendiri pada bulan Mei lalu dan membawanya ke atas Pegunungan Alpen.

Kecepatan Jet Pack itu bisa mencapai 300 km/jam. Sayap itu mengikuti semua gerakan Pak Yves. Dia bisa berputar 360 derajat di udara.
